Pedicled Anterior Lateral Thigh Flap in Managing a Bilateral Groin Contracture
نویسندگان
چکیده
A fifteen-year-old female patient presented with a severe bilateral groin contracture for the last 8 years. She had sustained burns at the age of seven years. Three attempts to release the contracture with split thickness skin grafts had been done without success. A pedicled anterior lateral thigh flap was raised and advanced into the defect after the contracture had been released. Postoperatively the patient healed well without any complications and was able to achieve hip abduction of about 130 degrees.

Versatility of Anterolateral Thigh Perforator Flap as a Pedicled Flap
The pedicled anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap based on septocutanous or musculocutanous perforators of the lateral circumflex femoral system is a reliable flap. The use of ALT flap as a pedicled flap is relatively unpopular if compared with its use as a free flap. The flap can be raised as a fasciocutaneous or muscle flap or myocutaneous flap. The pedicled flap has got a lengthy pedicle with a li...
متن کاملThe island pedicled anterolateral thigh (pALT) flap via the lateral subcutaneous tunnel for recurrent ischial ulcers.
Chronic recurrent ischial sores are an important cause of morbidity in paraplegics and geriatric patients. Compared to sacral and trochanteric ulcers, ischial sores are the most difficult to treat, with a low success rate following conservative therapy and a high recurrence rate after surgical treatment. We report the use of the pedicled anterolateral thigh (pALT) flap for reconstruction of a c...

DEAR EDITOR The radical surgery for fungating inguinal lymph nodes is commonly done in patients with penile and vulvar cancers, creating complex groin defects. These defects are managed most commonly with either pedicled ipsilateral anterolateral thigh (ATL) flap or tensor fascia lata (TFL) flap. The reconstruction with complex flaps provide durable coverage and prevent scar contractures, which...
متن کاملUse of the Anterolateral Thigh and Vertical Rectus Abdominis Musculocutaneous Flaps as Utility Flaps in Reconstructing Large Groin Defects
BACKGROUND Groin dissections result in large wounds with exposed femoral vessels requiring soft tissue coverage, and the reconstructive options are diverse. In this study we reviewed our experience with the use of the pedicled anterolateral thigh and vertical rectus abdominis musculocutaneous flaps in the reconstruction of large groin wounds. METHODS Groin reconstructions performed over a per...
متن کاملCombined Use of Anterolateral Thigh and Gluteal Fold Flaps for Complex Groin Reconstruction
We present a case of an epithelioid sarcoma of the right groin in which wide resection resulted in a complex groin defect involving the full thickness of the abdominal wall and the perineum. We reconstructed the defect using a combination of pedicled anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap and gluteal fold flap. The functional and aesthetic results were satisfactory. The ALT flap with a robust iliotibia...
